Melissa Band '14 and Eli Schneck '14 - "Hospital Architecture in Lancaster, PA: A Case Study of Evolution of the Ambulance Bay"

Melissa and Eli analyzed the architectural evolution of Lancaster General Hospital (LGH) from 1893 to 1952 using original blueprints from the Wohlsen Construction Company archive, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, and other archival sources.

Hackman Scholars Arrange and Digitize Historic Records

Documenting Historic Lancaster Architecture using SketchUp

This spring, Professor Kourelis' Master Builders of Lancaster seminar has been looking at historic Lancaster in a new way. In a series of exercises, students have been utilizing historic Sanborn fire insurance maps to recreate virtual city blocks using SketchUp. Lancaster Architecture Collections


Three collections relating to Lancaster architecture have recently been added to Scholars Square. The Lancaster Architecture Collection features historic images from late 19th - early 20th century publications such as Art Work of Lancaster (1892).
